Vaping on a Budget: 5 Tips for Frugal Vapers

Here are some great ways to continue having a satisfying vaping experience without spending a lot of money.

1. Buy With Quality in Mind

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is trying to save money by buying a device from a gas station or from an unknown online vendor. These devices are hit or miss. You might get something useful, or you might end up with something that breaks in a week or simply isn’t satisfying.

If the vaporizer you buy is junk, you’ll have to blow even more money on a second kit, likely going the same route because you don’t want to spend even more money. If you buy quality up front, you can avoid having to waste more money in the long run.

2. Buy a Mod That Allows you to Grow into It

Many people like to start with cig-a-likes or vape pens because they most closely resemble the smoking experience. Millions of people around the world stick with these beginner setups because it’s all they need, but some people grow out of these devices and desire more power and customizability.

If that sounds like it might be you, consider starting with a high-powered device, for example a 50W standard Reactor or 80W Reactor Mega. Just starting out, you’re not very likely to vape higher than 15 or 20 watts. You might never even vape higher than 10 watts, but you have the ability to vape as low as you want or as high as you might need in the future with a device like that.

3. Buy a Refillable Tank

As mentioned above, some people prefer to stick with cig-a-likes, which is great, but the cost of cartomizer replacements can add up. If you have a higher-powered device such as one from the previously referenced Reactor series, you can purchase a refillable tank atomizer to go with it. Refillable tanks allow you to buy bottles of e-juice at a cheaper cost than pre-filled cartridges, saving you money.

4. Look For Deals

Many vendors run sales on a regular basis. You can often find deals on e-juice, atomizers, mods, and accessories if you’re paying attention. One of the best ways to stay on top of deals is to subscribe to the newsletters of your favorite vendors. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Watch for deals, and if one comes up, take advantage, even if it’s not something you need immediately. If you see a deal come up for your favorite e-juice, buy some anyway to save money in the future, because that e-juice might not be on sale when you run out.

5. Vape at Lower Wattages and Higher Ohms

When you vape at high wattages, you run through e-juice much faster. We understand, high wattage can provide great bursts of flavor and higher concentrations of nicotine, but if you’re trying to save money, this just isn’t the way to go. Sub-ohm builds on your atomizer usually have more surface area and require more watts to heat up. These types of builds go through e-juice like crazy. To use less e-juice, use high-ohm builds such as 1.6 ohms or higher. These builds will heat up quickly at low watts and require less e-juice for a satisfying vape. You might not be blowing clouds like a competitive vaper, but you’ll get great flavor at an affordable cost.

What do you recommend for a person who wants to start vaping. I am on a budget but do not want to buy something cheap that will break at any moment. I am torn between a Halo Triton 2 Starter Kit or maybe one of the Halo Tracer starter kits.

Either option is a great choice, but if you are completely new to vaping, the Triton II may be your better option. It works well with both PG heavy and VG heavy e-liquids and is straight forward and easy to use. It provides a lot of power, but you won’t feel overwhelmed. If you plan on using mostly VG heavy e-liquids and would prefer more power to start, the Tracer may be the way to go. Hope this helps!
