How to Take Action and Support Vapers’ Rights
What Do We Mean by “Vapers’ Rights”?
Vapers’ rights: We’re not talking about disputes with the landlord over vaping in your apartment, arguments with neighbors about vape clouds in your backyard, or a blow-up with your mother-in-law about vaping in her house.
We are talking about ways each of us can influence the “big picture” for vapers’ rights in the U.S. There are important actions individual vapers can take.
Get to Know U.S. Vaping Advocacy Groups
VTA (Vapor Technology Association)
Founded in January of 2016, the VTA has been developing and implementing a cohesive lobbying and public affairs strategy to defend the vapor industry and change the public debate on vaping. Nicopure was a founding member of the VTA.
Join them, or just sign up for their mailing list which will keep you up-to-date on all federal and state vaping issues.
CASAA (Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association)
Founded in 2009, by the end of 2015 CASAA had 120,000 members. This IRS 501(c)(4) nonprofit organizes activist efforts and events, conducts PR campaigns, gets involved in research, and sets standards guiding vapers on quality, safe products.
Individual membership is free.
State-by-state CASAA calls to action are issued periodically.
Now, it’s Your Turn to Support E-Cigs and E-Liquids
1) Register, Then Vote
Register to vote, or make sure the local board of elections has your correct contact information, and then support and vote for pro-e-cig, e-liquid, and vaping candidates.
2) Join, Then Get Busy
Join and be an active member of one or both of the organizations we’ve highlighted here.
3) Become Proactively Persuasive on Your Own
- Identify local, state, and national politicians who are against vaping and write to them respectfully about why you want them to change their position on vaping.
- Write to your local newspaper: submit op-ed pieces, letters to the editor, and copies of letters you’ve written to anti-vaping politicians.
- Speak at local civic, educational, social, and religious organizations.
- Post your opinions on Facebook or Twitter.
- Participate in or organize pro-vaping events and demonstrations.
- Support local, state, and federal legislation and politicians helpful to vapers.
4) Give Money
If you’re not the “get involved” type, your donation will go a long way toward furthering the cause of vapers’ rights.
A gift to any of the organizations mentioned in this article, or to politicians at any level who support vaping, will be in direct support of people who are ideally positioned to multiply your pro-vaping voice in the U.S. and globally.
