Support the Armed Forces

Saturday, May 20, is Armed Forces Day, a day we set aside to honor those who serve in all branches of the U.S. military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. It’s the main event of Armed Forces Week, which runs from the second Saturday through the third Sunday in May every year.

Armed Forces Day is not just a great opportunity to remember what our service members do for us, but also to think of great ways to show them our appreciation.

With nearly 20% of our company made up of military veterans, Halo is especially proud to support service members in a variety of ways. Here are some ways you can help, too.

Donate Goods

Deployed service members need all the same everyday products everyone else needs — toothpaste, soap, etc. — as well as many other items we take for granted. Sometimes donating the actual goods needed is the best route. You can find a few of the organizations that will help you send “care packages” to service members here, here, and here.

Halo has proudly donated our vaping products to Vape a Vet, an organization that helps veterans find an alternative to smoking cigarettes.

Donate Money

There are many organizations and charities set up to benefit military personnel that would greatly appreciate your generous monetary donation. Many of the top ones are listed here for your convenience.

Halo supports the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). This crucial organization provides college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of military special operations personnel who’ve lost their lives in the line of duty, and immediate financial grants to severely wounded special operations forces personnel.

Donate Your Time

Lend a helping hand. There are military personnel and families in your area that could really use it. Look for volunteer opportunities here, here, and here.

Give Discounts

Business types from retailers to restaurants to theme parks often provide military discounts. If you own a business, we encourage you to consider offering military customers this benefit.

And we practice what we preach: Beginning Veteran’s Day 2016, Halo extended a permanent 10% discount to all veteran and active military personnel, as well to first responders such as police, firefighters, and paramedics. They only need to complete a one-time verification process at our website to lock in this benefit for life.

While you’re remembering the service members and families you can help directly during Armed Forces Week, don’t forget to honor those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice. Memorial Day is Monday, May 29.
