Stoptober: Smoking Cessation Season Is Here

Stoptober: Smoking Cessation Season Is Here

“E-cigarettes are a great way to help combat nicotine cravings and carry a fraction of the risk of cigarettes.” – National Health Service (NHS) website

Every October since 2012, Public Health England has held a 28-day “stop smoking” challenge. “Stoptober” is designed to give smokers all the resources and encouragement they need to break their bad habit.

As a company dedicated to saving the lives of a billion smokers, we wholeheartedly support this and other endeavors with a similar aim.

According to the NHS, people who stop smoking for 28 days are “5 times more likely to quit for good.” In fact, they state “more than 1 million people have used Stoptober to help them quit.” That’s an encouraging start!

E-cigarettes are the very first recommended smoking cessation tool mentioned on the NHS Stoptober webpage, which features the powerful and unambiguous quote shown at the beginning of this blog.

In a 2016 report entitled Nicotine Without Smoke: Tobacco Harm Reduction, the Royal College of Physicians also affirmed that traditional combustible cigarettes are 95% more harmful than e-cigarettes.

With statements such as these coming from agencies so high up within government, it’s apparent the U.K. “gets it” when it comes to the connection between vaping and a decrease in cigarette smoking and better overall health. They clearly chose to put politics aside and let the facts about vaping and e-cigarettes guide them in helping save lives.

If only major government agencies in the U.S. would adopt similar positions on vaping, we could save more lives here, too. <crickets>

In the absence of their leadership, we strongly advise you to consider vaping if you are trying to quit smoking. Get in on one of these challenge campaigns to get encouragement, if you need it. And there are many other options available out there.

Whether it’s Stopober or “Vapril,” the best time to start going smoke-free is always right now. We wish you the best of luck!

Nobody had feels yet. And how do you feel?
