Halo Travel Guide: Atlanta

Halo Travel Guide: Atlanta

Over yonder where peach trees aren’t really trees and “Hotlanta” is a phrase you would never say, is the stompin’ grounds of Atlanta. My coworker Steven and I traveled to the ATL earlier this month, and we got in touch with our Southern roots.

Get your peace signs up! Here’s what went down in A-Town!

Sweet, Southern Hospitality

One of my favorite things about Atlanta is that everyone is genuinely nice. We’d be leaving a restaurant and people would call out to us, “Have a blessed day!” We even ran into some smokers and had a friendly conversation with them about vaping – they weren’t bothered by random strangers talking to them. And speaking of vaping, we visited three vape shops while in town. If you’re ever in the Atlanta area, make sure to stop by Atlanta Vapor, Vaporious, and The Vaping Shack. They’ll show you a good ol’ time!

Southern Fixin’s

If there is one thing we’re good at – besides making premium e-liquid – it’s finding (and eating) good food. Atlanta was full of amazing food, so it wasn’t too hard to find, but these places need to be on your eating schedule when you’re in town:

Redneck Gourmet: Georgia does breakfast right – especially at the Redneck Gourmet. The food was warm and fresh, and the people were full of Southern charm. I ordered two eggs over easy, hash browns, toast, and cheese grits. You can’t forget the grits!

Williamson Brother’s BBQ: When it comes to BBQ, I can be pretty picky. But I knew this place was going to be delicious just by the aroma surrounding me as I approached the restaurant. As soon as we walked in you could see a chef turning the meat being cooked. I went for the BBQ brisket sandwich. And oh my Lanta, was it mouthwatering!

Chick-fil-A: Atlanta is the hometown of the famous Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. And Steven and I both happen to love Chick-fil-A, so it’s no surprise we stopped there. When we got there, we were greeted to a whole new way of enjoying Chick-fil-A. In Georgia, there are several Chick-fil-As that provide your typical fast food dining, and a formal sit-down option where a server waits on you. It was so cool! The service was, of course, a pleasure.

The Varsity: When you go to Atlanta The Varsity is a place you must visit. It’s an iconic part of Atlanta’s culture and known for its juicy burgers. Know what you want before getting up to the register because this restaurant moves quickly. You’ll hear a lot of, “What’ll ya have, what’ll ya have?”

Peachy Views

As we toured the city, we discovered a few places that offer the best views of Atlanta. Here’s what we found:

Sun Dial Restaurant: Four words describe the Sun Dial Restaurant – food with a view. Located in the Westin Hotel in downtown Atlanta, the Sun Dial Restaurant is at the top of the hotel on the 72nd floor. Once inside the restaurant, you’re greeted with a 360-degree view of the city. Have your camera ready!

Centennial Olympic Park: If you’re walking around downtown Atlanta, you’re bound to end up in Centennial Olympic Park. It’s surrounded by popular attractions, such as World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, College Football Hall of Fame, CNN Studios, and SKYVIEW Atlanta. Centennial Olympic Park is also home of the Fountain of Rings – one of the most recognized and photographed landmarks in Georgia. The fountain is Atlanta’s legacy of the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Jackson Street Bridge: The best view of Atlanta’s downtown skyline is found at Jackson Street Bridge. It’s easy to find and parking is free on the surrounding streets. We stopped by at night and got some great shots of the skyline.

Heading south soon? Don’t forget to bring this travel guide with you! Let us know what places you see and any recommendations you have in the comment section below. Atlanta is definitely on our list for places to visit again.
