5 Reasons Cig-a-Likes Are Good for Beginners
If you go to any vape forum and ask for advice on where to start vaping, most people will recommend buying a high-powered device. The reason being that usually the new vaper will probably upgrade anyway. There are good intentions behind this advice, but for many people, it’s not a good place to start. The people who frequent vaping forums are more likely to be advanced or hobbyist vapers. If someone is just looking to start vaping and wants something easy-to-use and straight-forward, the cig-a-like is a great place to start.
Why Beginners Should Start with Cig-a-Likes
1. Cig-a-Likes Are Affordable
One of the best things about starting with a cig-a-like is that they are very affordable. You can get started at a low cost and then later make a decision on whether or not vaping is for you.
2. Cig-a-Likes Are Small
Compared to any other type of electronic cigarette, cig-a-likes are tiny. They are about as small and discreet as you can get. This makes them easy to carry around and use at a moment’s notice. Their portability is also great when traveling.
3. Not Everyone Wants High Power
The first time someone takes a drag from an electronic cigarette, they almost instantly cough. The throat hit that comes from vaping can be intense. The best way to reduce this is to lower the wattage. Most new vapers are comfortable in the range of 8 – 15 watts, which is why cig-a-likes are a great introduction to vaping.
4. Beginners Want to “Test the Waters”
It’s good to start out simple and find your sweet spot, rather than jump right into an advanced device. There are hundreds of thousands of people around the world using cig-a-likes and feeling satisfied. If you find that you’re not satisfied, you can simply move up to the next level to something like a vape pen.
5. Ease of Use
Many beginners are turned off by the complexity of electronic cigarettes and would rather buy something that they can use right out of the box. A cig-a-like is perfect for this. All you need to do is screw a cartridge onto the battery and vape. And when the battery runs low, you plug it into the charger and that’s it. There’s nothing confusing about it.
The Progression is Important
Many vapers have moved away from cig-a-likes in favor of high-powered devices, but there’s a progression that typically happens to get to that point. An experienced vaper might not enjoy cig-a-likes anymore, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be a useful part of your advancement as a vaper.
Even if you only use a cig-a-like for a week or two, that short-term experience might have been exactly what you needed to get started.
I started with a cig-a-like years ago and that worked for me for several years. Then one day I decided to get into the hobbyist aspect of vaping and now I totally geek out on vaping. I build my own coils, I use mechanical mods, and I vape anywhere from 60 to 120 watts. But this journey would have never started if it weren’t for that cig-a-like.
